Beachside restaurant & bar
The obvious choice when you want food with a sea view. Set above Summerleaze, it works well for a relaxed lunch, drinks after the beach or an evening meal as the sun goes down.
Local tip: Book ahead for a good-weather evening and ask for a table with a view.
Traditional Cornish pasties
A proper Bude lunch stop, making pasties from family recipes since 1985. Choose from traditional steak and several other fillings, then take yours to the beach or eat in.
Local tip: Go earlier in the day for the widest choice and a pasty fresh from the oven.
Indian food
A useful local option when the group wants a warming curry and plenty of choice. It is particularly handy for an easy evening meal after a long beach or walking day.
Local tip: Check current opening times and order ahead at busy weekend and holiday periods.

Special dinner · modern British food
Bude’s strongest restaurant. Seasonal Cornish produce, imaginative cooking and a relaxed atmosphere rather than formal fine dining. It is Bude’s current Michelin Guide restaurant, so book ahead.
Breakfast · pastries · coffee
Probably Bude’s most distinctive daytime food destination: excellent sourdough, pastries, breakfast sandwiches and changing specials. It is open Wednesday–Sunday, 9am–2pm, with no reservations; arrive early before favourites sell out.
Tapas · groups · celebrations
Cornish-influenced tapas overlooking Bude Marshes, with private dining pods available. Its strong OpenTable following makes it particularly useful for families or groups who enjoy sharing dishes.
Refined modern dinner
The most interesting recent opening, launched at the Falcon Hotel in March 2026. The menu concentrates on seasonal Cornish produce, with dishes such as scallops, venison and trout. Promising, though still newer than Bude’s established leaders.
Canalside breakfast · relaxed dinner
A dependable, family-friendly canalside bistro serving breakfast, seafood, pasta and broader British and Mediterranean dishes. The terrace beside the canal is its biggest attraction.
Pizza · informal family meal
Generally the best choice in central Bude for proper pizza. Relaxed, relatively affordable and particularly useful for families or an uncomplicated evening meal.
Families · wood-fired beach food
A lively Crooklets option for breakfast, lunch and casual dinner. Starboard’s wood-fired menu makes it more suitable for an evening meal than a conventional beach café—and it is an easy walk from BSS.
Traditional breakfast · lunch
A friendly independent café near the canal, known for home-cooked breakfasts, lunches and particularly good cheese scones. Less fashionable than Electric Bakery, but more conventional and often easier for a leisurely sit-down meal.
Special evenings · within roughly 45 minutes
Drive times vary in summer and menus change frequently. These are the places to check first for a more special meal; follow the live menu before promising the group a tasting menu.
Fresh fish · Boscastle
A small Michelin Guide-listed restaurant built around fish from its own boat, produce from its farm and the day’s local catch. Menus and opening days change, so reserve before making the drive.

Bude’s tiny, characterful micropub, pouring cask beer, cider, wine and spirits from independent Cornish producers. Friendly, intimate and often lively, it is the strongest choice for a genuinely local pint and live music.

The Falcon Hotel’s Coachman’s Bar combines the feel of a traditional pub with a raised terrace overlooking Bude Canal and the inner harbour. A comfortable option for local ales, drinks and food throughout the day.
