The two-minute idea that changed beach cleaning.
The #2MinuteBeachClean began with Bude-based writer and surfer Martin Dorey’s deliberately simple challenge: spend two minutes picking up litter whenever you visit the coast. The first station was trialled in Bude in 2014; the idea then spread through a national—and international—network of beach-cleaning stations.
It works because the ask is small, visible and repeatable. Take a litter picker and bag, collect what you safely can for two minutes, sort or bin it correctly, and leave sharp or hazardous material for the appropriate authority.
